Root Beer Float Shakeology

Um. Yeah. Ehermagherd.

I heard about this new Root Beer Float Shakeology recipe. I must admit,  I was skeptical. In my opinion, root beer floats must be done CORRECTLY to be good. We're talking the good vanilla ice cream and fresh root beer.

So, last week I was a little bored with my normal shakeology routine. I needed something different than my Mocha Frappe shakeo. Then I remembered that I had bought some root beer extract at the grocery store. I decided to give my version of the recipe a whirl and low and behold...

The results of my little experiment were OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! It was like a big fat cheat meal/dessert but without any of the guilt! In fact, my son had a taste and asked me to make him one! That right there is a SCORE!

Do I have you excited yet? Are you drooling? Want the recipe???

Ok - here it is :)

Ingredients:

  • 1 scoop/packet of Vanilla Shakeology
  • 1/4 tsp Root Beer Extract
  • 8-12 ozs unsweetened almond milk (or water - depending on what you like)
  • Ice to taste

Directions:
  1. Pour almond milk into your blender.
  2. Add in the vanilla shakeology and root beer extract.
  3. Top with ice.
  4. Blend.
  5. Drink up!

If you are sensitive to flavor, you might need to use less extract (1/8 tsp). If you need a little more flavor, use more extract (up to 1 tsp).

Let me know what you think and if you made any changes to my recipe!

Vanilla Latte Shakeology

This morning I got to try a new Shakeology recipe completely by accident! The results were pretty spectacular!

Last night I wasn't feeling well (chills, aching legs, etc) so I went to bed early. When I got up this morning, I realized that I never did the dishes from yesterday and our blender wasn't clean. So, plan B it was! I have an extra blender at school, so I just made my Shakeology when I got to work. I poured my cold coffee and almond milk into a travel mug along with a square of dark chocolate. I was ready to go when I got to school.

As I was getting ready to make my shake at work, I realized I didn't have any chocolate Shakeology with me - AHH! I need my chocolate Shakeology! Seriously - it's an addiction. I searched high and low. In every drawer of my desk. In my school bag. In my purse. EVERYWHERE! There was no chocolate Shakeology to be found!

So I did what I could with what I had on hand. I had 5 packets of vanilla so I gave it a whirl. Low and behold, it was DELICIOUS! Here's what I came up with!

Ingredients:

  • 1 scoop/packet Vanilla Shakeology
  • 8oz cold coffee
  • 2-4 oz dark chocolate almond milk
  • 1 square dark chocolate
  • Ice to taste

Directions:
  1. Combine ingredients in a blender.
  2. Blend.
  3. ENJOY!

Did you make any changes to the recipe? Anything extra to add? Comment below!

Apple Pie Shakeology

Yeah. I'm on a fall kick. The weather is getting cooler. There's Friday night football games and MARCHING BAND every week. The leaves are changing. I'm wearing my brown boots today.

Yes sir. I believe it's FINALLY fall. :)

With fall comes lots of fun recipes and staples. Pumpkin Pie. Apple Pie. Pumpkin Spice Lattes. Warm soup. S'mores by the fire.

I'm not gonna lie. Fall is hard on me. I WANT to eat all the yummy food. I ENJOY all the yummy food. The problem is that my body doesn't like the unclean food.

So, I do what I can to make versions of the fall foods I love. That has been a LOT easier since Beachbody came out with Vanilla Shakeology this past summer. The vanilla flavor takes on whatever you add to it, so coming up with new recipes has been fun!

I decided to do an Apple Pie recipe this morning and HELLO! It was delish! Too good to leave buried in an old blog post. This sucker deserves its own post!

Ingredients:

  • 1 scoop/packet Vanilla Shakeology
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened apple sauce
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 Tbsp crushed walnuts or pecans (optional)
  • ice to taste
  • add water or more almond milk if desired.
Directions:
  1. Place all ingredients into a blender.
  2. Blend.
  3. Try not to drink it too fast!
  4. You can change up the thickness/consistency by adding more or less ice, almond milk, and/or water.
Play around with the recipe a little. If you find you like a different version better, please let me know! I'm always looking for new ideas!

Vanilla Shakeology Review and Recipes

I have ALWAYS been a chocolate girl. Obsessed with chocolate is an understatement. When Vanilla Shakeology was announced in June 2013 at Beachbody Summit, I was SURE I would hate it because I don't like milk or milkshakes. Heck, I don't even like melted ice cream!

So, one of my coaches gave me some packets to try and here's what my first impression of Vanilla Shakeology was:

Since that day, I have come to realize that Vanilla Shakeology now rivals Chocolate for my FAVORITE! It's so versatile and GOOD!

Before I get into some of my favorite recipes, let me tell you a little bit about Shakeology:

What IS Shakeology?
  1. It's a meal replacement shake that has the correct combination of proteins to carb ratio in order to few your body for energy, optimal health, weight loss and more!
  2. It's a nutrient dense drink (made from WHOLE foods!) that will provide you with nutrition to keep you healthy!
  3. It is that one meal a day that you don't have to think about! Anyone else a busy mom out there?
  4. It's that one meal that when you are running late and have a choice between the drive thru and a shake or breakfast vs no breakfast its a wise choice to choose the Shakeology.
  5. It tastes GOOD! It's not gritty, too sweet, not sweet enough, artificial tasting, or anything else! It's made from 70+ WHOLE FOOD ingredients and it will keep you full! The wonderful thing about Shakeology, especially the Vanilla flavor, is that you have the option to add in flavor not with artificial sweeteners but instead with real fruit, juice, peanut butter, spices, different types of milk, etc.
  6. Shakeology ingredients are not processed.  Even though it's in a powder form which would lead some to think it is processed, it is not.  You can buy every single ingredient in the grocery store and blend it up to make the same Shakeology.  But it would cost you a pretty penny!
I drink Shakeology every day for many reasons. First, it completely curbs my cravings for junk. Second, it's EASY. Third, it's QUICK. Fourth, I am not very good about getting all the veggies I need in a day, and I know that Shakeology is bridging the gap and keeping me on the right track!

So - you ready for some great Vanilla Shakeology Recipes? ALL of these recipes are made with one scoop or 1 packet of Vanilla Shakeology. Here ya go:
